I am a native English speaker with two years of experience teaching a range of levels and ages from very young learners to advanced adults. I completed my CELTA in August 2014 and since then I have been teaching in a major language centre in Hanoi. I undertook my bachelor’s degree in social anthropology at the university of Manchester, where I received a high first class honours that placed me among the top two students in my year.
My genuine passion for languages and being in a language learning environments is another thing that I really like about TEFL teaching. Having spent years learning Spanish and Vietnamese, both in and outside of the classroom, has equipped me with a stronger sense of empathy with non-English speakers and a greater understanding of the challenges that they face.
It is extremely fulfilling to see students improve and meet their specific goals. Over the course of my teaching career I have seen students progress from absolute beginners to fairly confident and expressive English speakers. Seeing how my profession empowers learners and helps them gain access to greater educational and professional opportunities is an incredibly rewarding experience.
